Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is simply ensuring that Google and other search engines can access your website and discover information that helps them understand your Essex business.
SEO is generally split into two parts; on-page SEO and off-page SEO.
Off-page SEO: Off page refers to factors that impact Google’s algorithm that aren’t part of your website, such as other websites that link to you. Links are still very important in boosting the popularity of your website but you need to ensure the right type of links, as the wrong type can negatively affect your performance.
Off page can also cover other web properties you have control of, such as your Google+ profile (this is linked in with Google’s “local” results, i.e. the local “Essex” map listings that show businesses near your current location). Optimising this channel is referred to as “Local SEO”.
To summarise, SEO covers the way your website and brand is presented, including your website and other online marketing channels such as social media (Google+ and Twitter) and PPC marketing. SEO ranges from the extremely technical (on-page SEO) to more traditional marketing to ensure your brand is presented to users in the right way.
