My background in SEO
My career in SEO spans over 15 years, most of which has been agency-side where I gained vast experience working with small and large eCommerce brands across DIY and homeware, luxury and high street fashion, travel, jewellery, medical and publishing.
I held a leadership position in one of the UK’s largest SEO agencies, where I led and mentored a team of consultants to assist the KingFisher Group in their digital transformation. I led the SEO strategy for brands such as Screwfix and B&Q and significantly grew organic traffic YoY with scalable and sustainable SEO best practices.
I also worked with other FTSE 100/250 brands such as Marks and Spencer, Johnson & Johnson, British Airways and uSwitch with projects covering platform migrations, international SEO, faceted navigation, content marketing and technical SEO.
I currently head up the SEO department at Dunelm.
My other interests
I’m a keen amateur photographer and have had my work printed in The London Barbican Guide, featuring a photo taken from my brutalist architecture collection.
If I have time after playing with my two children, I enjoy listening to & mixing vinyl on my turntables.
I also care about the environment and am a big advocate of upcycling (particularly furniture) to reduce unnecessary waste. Why buy new when you can upcycle?
In October 2020 I presented at the first-ever virtual BrightonSEO conference. Access my slide deck here: “What I learned analysing thousands of robots.txt files“
I built my own SEO tool because I wasn’t satisfied with the other free tools available. Learn more about Robots Exclusion Checker Chrome extension, which is used daily by thousands of professionals.
